We are very excited to announce the first ever international T20 matches at the University of Otago Oval will take place in February and March next year.
Dunedin is about to add international T20s to its sporting calendar for the first time next year with New Zealand Cricket's announcement of the 2019-2020 international season today.
The WHITE FERNS will take on South Africa on 13 February 2020 and the BLACKCAPS take on Australia on 24 March 2020.
The exciting, fast paced style of T20 cricket is sure to draw huge crowds, with expected attendance to be about 10,000 for the Australia match.
DVML CEO Terry Davies is suitably stoked with the city’s allocation. “It’s a great result for Dunedin and to have two international matches at the University of Otago Oval is fantastic for fans.” But it’s not just the fans that Davies believes the games will attract due to the exciting and fast-paced nature of the game. “The atmosphere at a T20 match is always high energy and has a wider appeal than to just the cricketing fan due to the lively nature of the shortened version of the game.”
