May 31 marks the day that Kendrick Lamar accepted the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Music at Columbia University, New York.
It is the first time in Pulitzer history that a non-classical artist or jazz musician has won. Lamar said, "It's an honor... I've been writing my whole life, so to get this type of recognition – it's beautiful."
