Choosing a wedding venue

Choosing your wedding venue is usually the first big decision of your wedding planning journey. The space you choose will impact on every aspect of your day, not to mention those all important photos.

Here are our top tips to consider when choosing your venue:

Location – Consider whether all your guests can easily get to the venue. The Dunedin Centre is right in the heart of Dunedin, meaning locals don’t have far to travel and it’s within walking distance of several hotels for any out of town guests.

Space and Capacity – Consider the size of your invite list and make sure your space is big enough (with a little wiggle room) but not too big. If outdoors, make sure the space has a wet weather backup. Whether your guest list is 50 or 500, the Dunedin Centre has a range of spaces to suit. The rooftop terrace is the beautiful spot to say your vows or celebrate your new marriage with canapés and drinks in front of Dunedin’s incredible St Paul’s Cathedral. It also has an indoor area to host your guests if the weather isn’t as beautiful!

Think about what’s included – Although an all-inclusive package may seem more expensive upfront, it can work out to be more cost effective. For example, not having to hire furniture, linen, cutlery or a PA system can reduce the cost of your day, and take away a lot of stress. At the Dunedin Centre, we offer a fabulous package that incorporates all the key elements to create your perfect wedding. There are plenty of ways to personalise your day, and we are here to make it happen. Your dedicated Wedding Coordinator will be on hand in the lead up to your wedding, as well as throughout the event itself, to ensure your wedding is exactly how you want it.
